Apex Legends – practice makes perfect

With the Halloween event over, Apex Legends gets a much-needed training option and a limited time Duos mode.

With so many different heroes and weapons to play with, learning the ins and outs of Apex Legends used to be quite difficult, with the game originally offering a pretty bare bones tutorial.

But this week’s newest patch has added, amongst the usual fixes and updates, a dedicated training mode titled Firing Range.

In this mode, up to three players are given free rein to mess around with every weapon, add-on and piece of gear to figure out how things work and come up with new strategies. You can even switch to a different character with a simple press of a button.

For some reason, this mode is hosted online so you may find yourself waiting in a queue for a short while just to access it.

The latest update also comes with a limited time Duos mode, where 30 teams of two players (instead of three) can battle each other. This mode won’t be around forever, though, and is set to last only until Tuesday, 19 November.

Some weapons have also been altered slightly thanks to the update. Projectiles from snipers and shotguns have been thickened out, so it’ll be easier to land shots with them, and the game’s heavy pistol has been nerfed again, so it doesn’t deal as much damage with headshots.

Apex Legends is free-to-play and available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC right now.
